A Salute To Black Nerds: Aaron McGruder

I must admit lately I've been slipping in my quest to bring African pride back to the mainstream due to a long line of obstacles and distractions. With Black History month now upon us I have decided to cast aside some things to focus on giving credit to a group of people rarely accredited... The Black Nerd. I will be paying homage to these men and women who never got a thank you for their contributions to society. I'll first start this new segment off with Aaron McGruder.

Aaron is a cartoonist, writer, DJ, and public speaker straight out of Chicago, Illinois. Over the years McGruder has become a beacon of black intelligence shining light on the ignorant traditions that have plagued black culture since liberation. His biggest contribution to the world of black arts has to be his hit comic-strip turned cartoon series The Boondocks. Aaron's cartoon is about two brothers and the culture shocks they deliver when they move to a predominantly white suburb with their grandfather. The Boondocks has been the epicenter of a lot of controversy from their use of the word nigger/nigga to their ugly bout with the black entertainment channel. Despite backlash for political outbursts and vulgar animated messages McGruder still trudges on and for that the Stigmalitia salutes you. If it wasn't for black nerds like you the rest of us would still be going through situations like this...
